Student Experience

Newbury street-

The Heart of Boston Fashion

Newbury Street is one of the hottest shopping streets in America, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, art galleris and salons. It is Boston’s fashion boulevard – our 5th Avenue, our Rodeo Drive, our Champs-Élysée – and the School of Fashino Design is located at the heart of this vibrant neighborhood. Use your SFD student ID to enjoy discounts all along Newbury Street!

Annual Fashion Show

All students who have completed projects are eligible to have garments judged for entry into the student fashion show in May. Your work will be shown right here on Newbury Street! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year for SFD student scholarships and programs and the culminating SFD student experience for our graduates.

Boston Fashion Week

BFW creates opportunities that increase the visibility of the local industry. The series of fashion events throughout Greater Boston serves as a platform for established industry professionals and aspiring newcomers to showcase your woek and network with the fashion community.

Fashion Statements

Through this exclusive SFD fashion speaker series and after-work networking opportunity, students enjoy conversations with carefully curated industry professionals, right here at SFD.

SFD plans an annual winter trip to NYC. Students ride to New York in style in a luxury limo-liner, take in fashion exhibits, enjoy behind the scenes tours, and fabric shopping at MOOD and other great locations

Sewn For The Holidays

SFD hosts an annual “maker” holiday social event and fundraiser. A celebration for the holidays. SFD students, faculty, alumni and friends in the industry make themed fashion items such as stockings, aprons and millinery for our silent auction.

University of Fashion

SFD Students have access to hundreds of online lessons. Every lesson includes a list of the tools and supplies you’ll need, and written transcripts of teachers’ instructions. Lessons are professionally produced.
