STYLE AFTER SUNSET

The School of Fashion Design presents a series of stylish film shorts featuring leaders in the local fashion industry! These brief motion pictures afford the entire community an opportunity to enjoy a glimpse into the glamorous world of Boston fashion. The public is invited to stroll by the school after sunset and experience this one-of-a-kind presentation in the school's impressive display window at 136 Newbury Street.

James Hannon, Director of the school says, "The fashion film shorts allow us to share what the school is all about with the community." The school teamed up with the fashion show production team from Finer Threads and the media production team from Guerilla Fashion to produce this public project. Lisa Cataneo & Dana Moscardelli of Finer Threads assembled a powerhouse team of models, makeup artists and hair stylists including Dynasty Models and Tonn Model Management; Stila Cosmetics; Beauty Rules Salon; Emerge Salon/Spa and G2O Salon/Spa.

Guerilla Fashion is powered by a group of contemporary fashion pioneers that has undertaken an ambitious plan utilizing innovative projects to engage the future of fashion head on! It recognizes the need for a strategic change in how to nurture and celebrate Boston's fashion talent. They are committed to building a brave new world of style.

 modelBOSTON WINNERS!

modelBOSTON's 2007 program has been developed by Kristie Babbin and Tracy Bennett Stewart of Viewfinder Productions. Two open calls in May earlier this year brought out model hopefuls in droves. The first cut focused on thirty new faces. The public cast over 5,000 votes online and selected the top ten! Then five leading local photographers - Fabrizio Cacciatore, Michelle Joyce, Bob Packert, Anthony Rugnetta and Tanit Sakakini - voted on the two that would go on to be the subject of photo shoots by the same team of image makers. The results of that process as well as a documentary by Goldilocks Productions will be featured during Boston Fashion Week. Learn about the winners below!

Kristen Kish was born in Seoul, Korea but grew up in Grand Rapids, MI. When she was 19 years old she moved to Chicago to continue school. Two and a half years later found herself in Boston and has been here for a year and a half. She is currently a chef at a Back Bay restaurant.

She was scouted at the age of 13 in a Kentwood, Michigan mall. She did a few jobs and when she turned 18 she signed with an international agency and continued to work while in college. When she moved to Boston, Kristen signed with Dynasty Models and has since participated in several School of Fashion Design's projects.

"I hope this experience affords me great opportunities to grow and develop in the fashion/modeling industry. I really look forward to working with the great people associated with this project. I'm taking the industry for what it's worth. If I end up modeling all over the world that would be great, if not, I am having a blast doing what I'm doing. In this industry it's difficult to see too far down the road."

Chris Hanly grew up in Swampscott, Massachusetts and is 27 years old.
He currently works in real estate and graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in New York. He got started in modeling when a rep from Abercrombie and Fitch noticed him on the street and asked if he would be a greeter model for one of their stores. He is now with Maggie Inc.

The most important thing to Chris about winning the modelBOSTON competition is the opportunity to work with five amazing photographers doing work that he would not have been able to do otherwise. He also thinks the documentary on the five shoots will be exciting and give his friends and family a look at what its like to be involved in every aspect of this business

"I cant say exactly where this business will take me, which to me is exciting because you don't know what tomorrow will bring. I just hope to take advantage of every opportunity in front of me, be professional, work hard, and have fun along the way. As far as acting goes I have been involved in two movies this past year and really enjoyed doing them and would like to pursue that more."
