COLLECTION 2006

Collection 2006 takes place on Sunday May 7th at the Fairmont Copley Plaza's Grand Ballroom!

Tickets to the luncheon and fashion show are $40 and must be purchased at the school located at 136 Newbury Street. Stop in and get your tickets before the event is sold out!

ALUMNI HONORS

Alumna Dawn Mello has been recognized by the CFDA and Fashion Group International for her contributions to the culture of American fashion and will be honored for Lifetime Achievement by SFD at Collection 2006. Ms. Mello was the President of Bergdorf Goodman and former Executive Vice President and Creative Director of Gucci. She has since started her own consulting company, Dawn Mello and Associates LLC, specializing in the luxury market.  

Michael McDonald of Michael of Boston which specializes in bridal-wear, will be honored as Distinguished Alumni during Collection 2006.

HENRY JACKSON

Cecily Tyson took to the red carpet at the premier of 'Madea's Family Reunion' wearing a dress by SFD alumnus and designer Henry Jackson.

MYRE @ MATCH

Jess Meyer of Myre Designs, premiered her fall 2006 collection of limited edition originals at Boston's fashionable eatery Match.

JOE CARL

Designer and alumni Joe Carl created golden, statuesque gowns for the red carpet runway on Oscar Night America at the only authorized Academy Awards event in Boston. Joe has just launched a Couture Corsets business.

A GALLERY

In celebration of the 110th Boston Marathon the A Gallery at SFD has presented a exhibition of active sportswear with the official merchandise by Adidas and the Boston Athletic Association.

 

SUMMER CLASSES

Don't forget to sign up for summer classes!

With most summer classes scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays you can use this ten-week session to keep on track with sketching, construction or patternmaking, and still enjoy long weekends and the beautiful summer season in New England.

ARNE & CARLOS

Designer Pot Luck at SFD

Runway Show

Eve Kohlman, owner of Fanny & Delphine is responsible for bringing Norwegian designers Arne & Carlos to Boston for a Designer Potluck at the school and a runway fashion show at the Commonwealth Hotel in Kenmore Square. The prominent retailer and European designers provided students and guests with great insight and inspiration that ensured a place for future 'pot lucks' featuring industry professionals at the school.

FENG SHUI

The Boston branch of Fashion Group International hosted an event at the School of Fashion Design featuring the work of Evana Maggiore. Industry leaders from all areas of the local fashion scene came together to learn about Fashion Feng Shui.

BOSTON FASHION INCUBATOR

 

Designers Theresa Sasson, Sofia Gagua, Amy Ozay, Melissa Villa, Joe Carl & Jess Meyer attended the first meeting of the Boston Fashion Incubator. BFI was developed for those who take their interest in fashion seriously, both commercially and creatively. These individuals also have a strong sense of community. The goal is to encourage the formation and development of fresh fashion ideas, while nurturing new careers and entrepreneurial ventures.

The new computer lab is up and running with Dr. Phyllis Misité teaching the first CAD class in pattern-making. Part two is being offered this summer as well as a Computer Aided Design art course that will focus on textile design and storyboard layout.

The annual Rendering Style competition for New England high school students has named two winners who will receive tuition and supplies for one of the summer sessions of the High School Prep Program at the School of Fashion Design. Winners Aillinn Connors and Trong Huynh will be recognized at the Collection 2006 event.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15) faculty, alumni and students of Hispanic descent present their work as part of an exhibit and opening event on Friday, October 6th.

 

BOSTON FASHION CARES

Help make the holiday season a special one for children throughout the metro-Boston area by bringing a toy to this Boston Fashion Cares toy drive event on Friday, December 1st.
