Students from around the globe attend the School of Fashion Design! We are proud of the diversity of our student population and consider it an important part of the student experience at SFD.
Application procedures for international students are the same as those for US born students.
International students will be asked to submit financial documents, such as a bank statement in English, verifying their ability to reside in the US for at least one year (sufficient funds for housing, food and other necessities). SFD reminds international students that normally they may not be employed while in this country.
The School of Fashion Design is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students with an M-1 status. Per the Department of Homeland Security international students are required to register with SEVIS.
Tuition (ten courses/two semesters) and first year's required supplemental fees, supplies, textbooks, and kits are expected once an M-1 visa is issued.
TOEFEL scores are not required to attend, however, instruction at SFD is conducted in English and a mastery of the language is necessary.
The School of Fashion Design does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
Note: If you are under twenty-one (21) years of age, the application form cannot be given final consideration without completion of this section, including, the signature of a parent or other person responsible for payment of all charges.
I enclose $50 as a non-refundable application fee, with the understanding that it is not for less than one full academic year, for which the tuition is $12,350.
I understand that registration and tuition is for a specific curriculum and for a specific term (as indicated on this form) and that it is not refundable.
I agree to pay this tuition (if I am accepted for enrollment and within ten days will declare my continued intention to study at SFD) by submitting a tuition payment in the amount of $1,235 (the equivalent of one course).
Monthly tuition payments of $1,235 each are due on the first of September, October, November, December, January, February, March, April, and May for the academic year.
Supplies and textbooks must be purchased before the start of classes in September and January. Class fees, books, kits, lab fees, fabrics and supplies vary according to the academic year and must be paid in full before September 1 (or January 1, or June 1 as applicable).
International Students: The full amount of tuition and fees for the academic year is due by September 1, January 1, or June 1 as applicable.
All tuition payments not received according to the above due dates are subject to a $25 late payment fee. In consideration of the acceptance of this application and enrollment conditions as described above I subscribe to all regulations, conditions and policies of the School of Fashion Design.
Part-Time/Continuing Education Students: Tuition is pro-rated at $1,235 per course and is due and payable in full by the semester of study (September 1st, January 1st, or June 1st).
SFD is a studio school focused on fashion design. We do not require students to take English, Math, or other general education courses, therefore, we do not accept federal financial aid; however
SFD tuition is set reasonably with student expenses in mind, and tuition payments are broken down into a manageable payment schedule. Students taking courses full time are generally able to complete the program in two years, and should not expect to carry student loan debt upon graduation. Some students also elect to take classes on a part time basis.
At SFD, we are committed to doing everything we can to work with incoming students to ensure everyone who is interested is able to complete our program.
We offer a number of scholarships; some for full time study, some for full or part time:
